i guess you don't have much time to play games considering how much Mr Belding needs your assistance.

And that ff7 movie is old news, personally i think it's dumb.

i found it to be incredibly disappointing.
i first read about the movie they were working on back in 1997 and i was really looking forward to it. i guess my expectations were too high.

the spirits within was fucking horrible. but this looks pretty cool. especially if there's some playable elements to it. that would be awesome.

The spirits within LOOKED cool as hell, but it was like they let the voice actors make the plot up as they went along. It made NO sense and what did make sense was stupid.

exactly.
when i read in 1997 that a final fantasy movie was being made, i was hoping it would be more like one of the video game storylines (this is pre-ff8, of course. i don't need to watch people play magic: the gathering in a movie... or soccer.)

I don't know how anyone could expect a 1.5 hour movie's plot to be anywhere near as good or in depth as the plot of a game that took 40+ hours to beat. I'm not saying Spirits Within was good, just that we were setting the bar too high.

Many movies have good plots. Really, it's not too much to expect.

Oh, sure, I agree with that. The plot stunk, I'm just saying that I think you cannot have as much character development in a 90 minute plot as a 40 hour one, obviously, and as such, any FF movie would pale in comparison to the games.

And how much of that 40 hours is actually spent advancing plot, and adding to the character depth? How much is you running around killing countless monsters, treasure hunting, or pointlessly talking to every person in every town. I'm a huge RPG fan, but just because a game takes 40 hours to beat doesn't mean that was 40 hours of plot building. Movies are actually better vehilces for moving plot lines because they don't have the gameplay and other videogame aspects to distract the viewer. They just have the plot.

That being said, FF:SW is beautiful looking, but the story did suck. FF7:AC should be much better, since they already have the graphics experience (don't forget that FF:SW was used as a test vehicle for Squares next level of graphics). Anyway.

ANYWAY, back on topic, from the trailer the most i can make out of the plot is that the cloaked figure in the wheelchair is sephiroth and the white-haired young dude (who cloud is seen whuppin') is probably his son. i think the story is just about cloud goin back 2 the ghetto.
