i'm really not used to doing homework

i've been back in school for three weeks. commuting, getting up early and all that were easy but like... i can't sit at my computer, intending to do my homework, without logging onto a bunch of unrelated things.

gimme some pointers. anyone?

go to the library. that's the only way i get things done. pack some headphones, a jacket, some candy and water, and make yourself stay there for 3-4 hours. What I do to keep me there, is say I get there at 6, well free pizza opens at 9, so I call my friend and tell her to meet me at the pizza place at 9. So then if I want to leave, it'll be more of a hassle for me to go aaallll the way back to my room, sit around, and then walk aaaalll the way to pizza. making plans to have somewhere to go wh en you leav always helps. especially when it's pizza.

library is actually an awesome idea. i could use the on-campus library... or the public library around the corner from me. mmhm. but 95% of my homework needs to be typed up. and where there's typing, chances are there's internet. we'll see how it goes.

it's even tougher for me to concentrate on homework at work. i've tried that too :-/

well anything. make plans to have coffee, and stay at the library until then. or like if you have a show that you like to watch, get to the library a few hours before hand. it really works. I'm doing it tomorrow.

how about writing out rough drafts at the library and then type them up when you get home? that way it's sort of not really working and you can fuck around on the computer as much as you want?

yeah, i gotcha. i think i will start hanging out at the library for a few hours after school everyday. i know it'll make a huge difference in my study habits and i haven't even done it yet. i feel dumb for not thinking of this before.

I hated our big library on campus. It was the biggest meat market, and I went to a dorky school so I can only imagine how some other college libraries are. Everyone went there to "study" but they were actually meeting up with friends to study (ie, talk), or they were there to scope out love interests, or they were there to take a nap in the big comfy chairs (ie, snore), or they were there to snack on candy & soda (ie, to open cans and bags loudly, and to chew just as loud). I'm not so great at focusing and studying, and it killed me and rendered that library useless. So I studied at the stuffiest, dorkiest place I've ever been: the math library. Everone there (myself excluded) at least appeared to be a genius working on his next big theorem, so it encouraged to to at least sit there and do a few math problems or write a few paragraphs. I never got enough homework done anyway.

I wonder if I'll ever grow up so I can go to grad school.

Normally I'd just sleep outside in a grassy area, but if it's cold out the library has to do. I love this one spot right by a bank of computers, the sound of 100's of hands softly typing soothes me for some odd reason.

I take my laptop to the library to do work. If I'm being counter productive and fucking around online, I take out my wireless card.

I can't study at the Concordia library so I go to the McGill one though... Try to find some back corner no one uses to do my work.
