Post so I flaked out on a bid I made on ebay...

im not proud of it, i feel kinda bad.

it was something of an accident. I hit the "Buy it Now" button and didnt think it was going to stop the auction on the thing (a Line-6 Echo Pro delay rack system).

so, for 300 bucks, I figured "why not" and went ahead with the purchase. Then I started to read about how difficult the thing would be (no dedicated footswitch/floorboard, so a pain in the ass midi control would have to be implemented. I've got enough issues with my pedals as it is...).

I actually sent the check and put a stop payment on it. Emailed the guy apologizing up and down (I do feel bad, but I'd feel worse had I bought the thing).

bought a $30 danelectro delay instead from GC...i think my ebay days are done before they even began.

You know the seller could sue you if he wanted to.

Ebay inherently is conducive to poor decision-making.

Seller is obviously not happy...and he's actually been fairly cool about my circumstance and has gone the extra mile to let me off the hook (in terms of a bad Ebay rating).

I've had enough silly gear purchases and despite going as far as I did with this one, I just didnt want to do it.

the Seller threatened to give me a really bad rating. I'll let you know if he decides to sue (his lawyer would have to get in line behind some other investigators...).

I don't see what the big deal is. Can't he put it back on ebay later and try to resell it? It's not like he's completely screwed or anything.

1. ebay isnt free, so the seller is losing money
2. If the seller cashed the check, and the check bounced. the sellers bank more than likely isnt to happy with him.
3. what if the seller already sent the item? again the seller is screwed.
