Default Mystic River.

This was a great movie.

If you see it, enjoy it. enjoy the acting, the great story and the decent cinematography.

however. after everything gets wrapped up, and you will know when this happens, please excuse yourself from the movie theatre. do not stay and watch the final three minutes of the movie. a new tangent is thrown in and it comes out of nowhere and ruins the entire movie. it is a huge WTF? moment.

thanks for your time.

We could go into town and spend some money. Go to the pictures, go and see something funny.

I didn't like the story too much. Tim Robbins was terrible. And I hated the film tint.

Okay movie.

the part with sean penn and his wife, before the parade. she says, "we could own this town" or whatever and the start fooling around with each other hardcore.

my buddies and i looked at each other like, WTF?

she had no agenda or even speaking lines in the movie and then after the story is wrapped up she is talking about how she wants to run the fucking town with her husband. WTF? they totally didn't need to add that. Sean Penn did bad things, but for a reason. Throwing in the whole, wanting to run the town thing totally ruined it.

that is, of course, just MY opinion.

That is what through off the entire movie for me. I've heard that called her "Lady MacBeth" speech, but she needed more character development throughout the film for that to work. I don't know what happens in the book, but the ending left me feeling like they glossed over some vitally important parts of her character.

Tim Robbins was great, but Marcia Gay Harden was just as good as he was. Benicio Del Toro tops him in 21 Grams (as far as awards go), even though his performance is just as leading as Naomi Watts' in that movie.

But, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one for whom the ending didn't work.

oh that? i thought it was a little weird but i thought she was just trying to puff her husband's esteem back up. i didn't think she seriously was like "go take over the town!" just like, "you're the man, dude, quit whining."

agreed.

If anyone ever wastes their time/money to see Matchstick Men, please turn the tv off/leave the theter when the guy's partner and daughter get in the car in his driveway. Just turn the movie OFF.

btw- Marcia Gay Harden is the aunt of my friend.
