I'm going to Russia and Northern Europe from March to May. What is the warmest type of jacket to get (wool, gore-tex, down?)

down is really warm. get a big fluffy down jacket. i have a woll coat and it's just not warm enough. where in russia are you going? my dad was just in st. petersburg and said it was really cold there.

I'm actually going to St. Petersburg also. I was looking at past weather reports online and on the dates I will be there, 2nd week of March, the average high is 30 and the low is 20, so hopefully it won't be miserable.

It's part of the semester abroad program at my college. I'm one of 15 students that was picked to be part of it. I will be earning 16 credits while traveling throughout Russia, Estonia, Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Ireland. This will be my first time overseas and I'm really looking forward to it.

Get a real wool scarf / tuque / mitten set. And good wool socks.

I wear long johns when it gets really cold!
