Arrow Star Wars: Episode 3 bootleg footage leaked online

Its kinda silly clip. It was used to show liscensers and for Lucasfilm a few months ago to get them to pony up the dough and re-sign for Ep. III merchandising rights.

The clip is on-set footage. ie. absoultely everything is green / blue screen with the odd set thrown in. Actually if you look really quicking you can see a rotating set, which looks pretty badass. The clip is edited to AC/DC's "BACK IN BLACK". Yeah, I know, that's horrible misuse of AC/DC and they should sue. Personally I wish they'd use that in the trailer just to make people laugh thier asses off, but hey, it was for lisceners and suits - they need to make the clip seem sexy.

Most of it goes by pretty quick to get a hold of but since I've watched it about 9 jillion times already theres a clip of Peter Matthew putting on his Chewbacca suit. All the primary actors in between takes goofing around. An interview with Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGreggor. Prodcuer Rick McCallum trying to read a script. Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) falling flat on his face. McGreggor and Chirstensen rehearshing the final lightsaber duel. And Lucas looking fat. Nothing too earth shattering.

The goodness is:

One shot early on of Anakin has some lights flashing on him with completely whited-over eyes. that looks cool.

Obi-Wan beating the hell out of three Greensuited stunt doubles (actors on set to be replaced with other actors later). The crazy part is, they're holding lightsabers. Three dark Jedi? huh?

The footage of Anakin and Obi-Wan wailing on each other looks pretty intense, even in considerably crappy small bootleg format. They're really just bashing the hell out of each other, fists flying, kicking, smashing. Looks great.

And there's one shot of Anakin that looks like it comes from the end of the movie (Dark cape flapping in the wind behind him, hanging on for dear life. This is probably right before he gets tossed into a big friggin pit of lava.). In fact it looks pretty much like the shot of Luke from Empire when Vader threw him over the edge and when Obi-Wan was over the edge in Ep. 1. Lucas loves to do these little visual twists back and forth between the movies.

http://koti.mbnet.fi/dukeirot/ep3/ep3-footage.avi

(34 meg AVI file of full bootleg)

ONE BBQ JEDI COMMIN RIGHT UP!

Better hurry, Lucasfilm sues more people for Star Wars bootleged stuff before lunchtime then the RIAA and the MPAA does in a week.

And yah, the Anakin / Obi-Wan duel stuff looks bad-freakin-ass.

do lucasfilm actually sue people for possessing/saving bootleg shit like this, or do they just go after the site owner?

site owners. I think. They usually get a "KNOCK IT OFF" letter first. I was just playin with the lawsuits gag. But they seriously have a whole department at the Ranch to track down leaked Star Wars stuff. And they take it down all the time.

But yeah, it'll be down soon. Hell probably in the next week. This only leaked today. So its offically:

Apparently this is a varation on one of those "trust me and I'll catch you" games between Anakin and Obi-Wan gone horribly wrong.

He should just release it "as is" and then put in the rest of the effects and edits into an expensive "special edition" release which all nerds will then pay for all over again.

actually I always thought that would be a really cool DVD feature - to watch the cut with animatics and blue screens.

speaking of Star Wars DVD, eps 4 - 6 commin out in November, same set done as Indy (3 movies & 4th disc of extras). No word on original cuts / new cuts / or even a full box set.

as confrimed as TFN gets and they're pretty reliable.

We're hearing rumblings this week about the Classic Trilogy DVDs coming next fall. Here's some details floating around the net these days:

In November 2004 we'll see the Original Trilogy on DVD! There probably won't be any added scenes, simply the 3 Special Edition films along with with a bonus 4th disk. Basically they're going to take the Indy trilogy to use as a model.
Also *******d will be Episode 3 teaser material!

The Indy boxed set just became the best selling boxed set ever. They expect SW to take that title, later this year. No news of any 6 DVD boxed sets or the classic versions of the film.

With DVD exploding I think FOR SURE we'll get a eps 4 - 6 this year as a pre-release before episode 3. just makes sense and they re-released the trilogy on VHS before ATOC came out so expect the same using DVD this year.

That's the biggest "DUH" ever.

But yeah, thanks for the news. I try not to read too much about what's coming up and going on in the upcoming films, as I managed to have a lot of ROTC spoiled for me by doing that.

I'm a medium spoiler junkie. I don't want full plot summaries, dialouge, major twists, but I like to find out where they're going with the flick and what general plot to expect. I was less spoiled for Ep. 2 going in and I enjoyed it alot more.

Sure the Anakin / Obi-Wan duel may be considered a spoiler for purists, but sheesh, we've known about that for nigh 20 years. All three movies have been leading up to The Duel ala The One Ring being dropped into Mt. Doom.

(though I did read a major major spoiler by accident for ep. 3 by accident involving a certain main character who buys it. dangit, dangit, dangit. Sounds cool, though.)

From Nic Gillard, SW stunt co-ordinator extraordinaire.

Where do you get your inspiration?

I got the Jedi style from all the great sword styles. Only about 12 people on Earth know it and can read the moves off the page. But I invented it, so I can beat them all, though Hayden Christiansen, who plays Darth Vader, is the toughest. The skill is mostly balance and having your feet in the right place. In the next film, Ewan [McGregor] has more than 1,000 moves, which are more complicated to learn than dialogue. The climactic fight scene is, at 12 minutes, the longest fight scene in cinema history.

that's probably bullshit, there has to have been fight scenes longer then 12 minutes.

aside though, its gonna be long, rough and tumble final duel between master and student. The flick might get a PG-13 too, considering the amount of people getting killed in the movie.

I'll spoil you right now so you aren't disappointed: Jar Jar doesn't die.

There was a "death of Jar-Jar" plotline early on in the script / story stage where Jar Jar became this heroic figure, led and army into battle and died. George cut it. Now he doesn't die, Jar Jar just fades away into obscurity when the Empire rises. I betcah dollars to donuts he'll have a combined 3 minutes of screentime ala in ATOC.

My bet on a titles: Star Wars: Episode III - Fall of the Republic . Revenge of the Sith. Rise of the Empire. Electric Boogaloo. Its ALLL Over. Jar Jar's Big Day Out.

Probably. It'll just be 12 minutes or so of them wailing on each other and pausing just for Obi-Wan to yell at Anakin to stop or Anakin (by that point Darth Vader - but without the facemask and breathing gear) saying something about the Dark Side.

Oh yah, also to save disappointment for people: the *real* Darth Vader (helmet, gear, James Earl jones voice, heavy breathing) has about 1 minute of screentime by the end. So don't go in expecting to see that, that's going to be the very end of the film.
