Thumbs down So I flipped and totalled my car

on the way home from practice yesterday morning. There were five of us in the car, we were all okay. minor injuries.

There were two cars ahead of me, (it was a back highway road with farms and stuff) and the car furthest ahead slowed to turn left across traffic. It was pretty far over, almost too far over, practically centering on the double yellow line. The car infront of me went around it, I slowed down because I wasn't sure if I was going to, but it started to turn so I kept going, still slowing, right when I was about to pass it on the right, it stops turning and I haven't as much room as I thought. As I go by, my rear right tire goes off the pavement onto the gravel swirving me into on coming traffic. I'm literally 1 second away from a head-on collision with a truck so I steer back the other way, overcorrecting, and we roll to the left, flipping at least twice and taking out two fences and a highway light. Our team mates driving behind us see my car on the side of the road and stop to see what happened and then realize that we had a bad accident. My car is gone. My seatbelt saved my life, and from the looks of the car and the crash site, it was very very close. If I hadn't had that extra second to turn from the truck it would've been over. We were taken to the hospital, I had to wear a neck brace and they made me take off my clothes. Everyone else had minor scrapes and were pretty much okay. I had xrays on my neck that showed I had had a muscle spasm that caused a sprain. I'm in complete pain. My lower back took it bad, too, as well as my stomache from my seatbelt. They gave me an ultrasound to make sure my stomach was okay. The boys on the team came to the hospital and brought us flowers and stuff. Our coach was flying into SF and right as he landed got a call about teh accident and was in the waiting room when I came out. My dad came and took me home. Now I can't move. blah.

i'll have pictures of the car and fence soon.

Holy shit. That sounds really scary.

Lucky you have good reflexes though... I dunno if I could have corrected that fast.

from the perspective of an indifferent, occasional outside observer (i read your posts once in a while), there sure seems to be a lot of chaos following you around. agree, disagree?

i totalled a car in 99 without wearing my seatbelt. i drove through a ditch, 2 backyards, and 1 fence because i knew i wasnt wearing my seatbelt so i didnt slam on my breaks (the car was already totalled after the first ditch)

the guy who's fence i broke was a black priest who liked little boys. he became friends with my dad, whom he confessed to, and my dad convinced him to quit the ministry.

my dad always says that "things happen in threes" quote and i'm beginning to think it's true.
i've had a lot of shit thrown my way this past week too and each day gets a little easier (provided something new doesn't pop up)

As cheesy and adult-sounding as it is, seatbelts are pretty amazing things. When the dumbass drunk driver rearended my Mom's car, it was her seatbelt that saved her life and her airbag that saved her from getting knocked out. Glad to hear you're ok.

wow. I'm glad you're okay. Sorry things aren't turning out so well for you right now, but i totally believe that bad luck comes in threes, so you should be done with all this nasty stuff for a while.
