This is a very simple thing, but thank you for having the decency to make that distinction. I can't take anyone seriously if they can't separate their personal beliefs from their political ones. It's the particular kind of sanity that seems to be so sorely lacking in so many people. If spirituality stayed personal and didn't become a factor that swayed political action we wouldn't have to fucking kill each other over shit like that. Just because you believe something for yourself doesn't mean you have to believe it for other people. Personally, I don't think I have to authority to believe anything for other people. yeah, what is with the fucking million standing ovations? thats the one thing that pissed me off the most. it really is idiotic, and trivializes an allready trivial event. after 20 minutes i was spewing scorn at those idiots to just shut the fuck up and sit down. its embarrasing. what the hell is this, a high school pep-rally? it funny that they even interrupt him to clap and when they do they hoot and holler. what the fuck. sometimes they didnt even know if they should be clapping. two people vaguely start it, then everyone just kinda joins in.

the speech itself was a thinly disguised campaign infomercial. i love how all the news outlets can literally sum it all up in a short point form, with all the necessary substance intact. there are core issues and initiatives talked about, thats whats important to hear, not flowerly literary packaging and feel-good hollywood-style fluff. its all so idiotic, the vernacular used in politics. bush is hardly exclusive in this guilt, the democrats are almost as bad. why cant honesty be more prevelant in the things that need honestly the most.
