I went with American Beauty, although I'm not exactly a big fan of it.

I need to see Magnolia again. I was blown away by it when I saw it in theatres but I get the feeling I wouldn't be now.

I went with "other" but I can't decide whether it was for Election, Dogma, or Virgin Suicides.

It was a choice between American Beauty and South Park. I went with AB, though if given the choice, on a given day, I'd probably choose to watch South Park for teh funneh.

That was a good year for films. Holy crap.

1999 was the last great year for movies. It just kept commin at you all year, it was awesome. It really filled you with hope that the millienum would bring a new style of films to the forefront --- then we got The Animal and Glitter and everything went downwhill from there.

Fight Club beat out South Park by a notch in my vote.

my favs:

1) American Pie(barely by a notch beating out The Matrix)
2) The Matrix
3) tie between Fight Club, Office Space, American Beauty, Election, and Dogma(not sure what'd get my vote for #3).

I said the Matrix, but holy shit there were a lot of great films that year. Honorable mentions go to Office Space and American Beauty. I should really name them all, but I'll just leave it at that.

Was Being John Malkovich 99 too?

And yes, that was an amazing year for movies. I went with American Beauty, just over Fight Club.

I cant believe no ones mentioned Boondock Saints. That movie was most excellent. My vote goes with Office Space though.

it's a toss up between magnolia and american beauty. i related to ab more. it's one of my favorite films of all time.

then i saw your other list:

Election was funny as hell.
The Blair Witch Project was great. i don't care what what people think.
Sleepy Hollow: beautiful and scary.
Dogma was genius! and it had a good message underneath the potty humor.
Eyes Wide Shut was boring and sucked. i'm just saying this to piss off the kubrick fans. i'm glad he's not around to make movies anymore.
The Green Mile was stunning. it almost made me cry.
Virgin Suicides - another of my favorite movies of all time. great soundtrack. i bought the book the other day.
Boondock Saints was clever and entertaining. great film.

I went with American Beauty. I just really love that one for some reason.
Office Space was funny, but I think it's overrated.
Dogma I really liked when I first saw it, but not so much anymore.
Fight Club was great. I need to see it again.
South Park was probably the funniest movie I've ever seen.
