Does Subway intentionally make its TV ads utter shit?

I don't know what they are like in the States, but since they have started advertising in New Zealand they have had a string of utter shockers.

The latest one is some fat sort of Cupid type angel being allowed "to be bad, because I had Subway"

These make our local ads look like they were made by geniuses.

The interesting thing about Jared is that no one in New Zealand has any fucking idea who he is. Since they have come here recently we have just a had the newest few ads with him in them, with no introduction to who he is.

I assume he is someone special who endorses Subway for whatever reason, but I really don't know.
