It's a near-perfect album; a fine, unforced refinement of that "air" aesthetic in a more song orientated approach. Nigel Godrich did the mixing so that should give you an idea of how lush and layered the production is.

They're the only band I've heard of (besides Krafwerk, Pixies and Radiohead) playing Coachella.

whatever, whitey. could you be more white, mr. white-skin?

the virgin suicides isn't that good to me anyway. i like uh. Moon Safari more. the new album isn't good because it sounds like elevator music from france.

I think I'm officially done asking for album opinions on this board; only one or two people ever give an honest, mature answer. you guys are worthless.

Talkie Walkie isn't as good as Moon Safari, but it's certainly a step up over 10,00 mhz. Whereas 10k felt like Air was trying to intentionally sound new and interesting in the name of sounding new and interesting, it seems as though they've realized that the Moon Safari era sound is what people like and what they do best. It's not as dark as Virgin Suicides, and I personally always felt that Virgin Suicides all sounded very much the same, whereas Talkie Walkie tries new things without straying too far from their core sound.

Hey at least I get to fuck Ryan. You don't.

I like Moon Safari and Virgin Suicides, I just don't like it when a band repeats themselves and or refuses to acknowledge that music has changed since their most acclaimed release. This record would have been decent 4-5 years ago, but now it's just eh. It doesn't suck exactly, but it's certainly not good.

I'd agree with you if air decided to keep Moon Safari's downtempo style for talkie walkie, but instead it's a whole new interpretation of their sound- one that's grounded not in the late-nineties' electric style du jour, but in the traditional yet timeless pop song format. It's their best album to date. One that's more focused than 10,000hz legend, more complete than the virgin suicides, and less dated than moon safari. More importantly, I should also note that some of the songs are strikingly beautiful- which is the only reason why i bother posting in this dumb thread. dis thred sux.
