The home ones are like half the price. But seriously, that's a stupid amount of money, you could get a gym membership for like 5 years or more for that much money, and then get to use the top of the line commercial stuff.
it is, it's what my gym has. and I would NEVER fork over that much for a machine, I just want it

the moving arm one is 500 more!

teh appareils are gay. so is gym. artificial, therefore not good for the body (and besides, working out isn't just for your body, it's also for your mind). swimming, running and all that stuff is the best. play football, go mountaineering or somethin like that.

swimming! WITH TEH MERMAIDS!!

push ups will not get you any stronger though, but they will shape your chest if you do enough of them

i don't know much about body building, but i think that if you want to increase your endurance you do more reps, but if you want to increase actual muscle size you need to lift as much weight as you can so you tear the muscles so they will grow back larger or something. so doing pushups will make you stronger, you just can't expect to get huge arms from doing them. i think.

My little muscles are torn from a weight lifting class I joined at my gym. I want to go home and sleep.

I go running outside in the winter quite a bit. I usually wear gym shorts, lined wind/track pants, a long-sleeved thermal shirt, a t-shirt, and a hooded sweatshirt, and it works just fine. As long as your athletic shoes have good traction your feet will be fine too. Your knees were built for varied outdoor activity, so running in snow every once in a while isn't bad.

If you actually schedule a time to go to the gym and just go and do it, you'll go. I would go and some days I felt like doing nothing at all. But I would make myself go. I'd say "ok, well i will run for 5 minutes." then you end up staying longer because once you get going, anxiety, people watching, being tired or whatever the fears are will not matter anymore.

that's one of the reasons that i dont like this thing. my dad had one, and you can easily get to the point where on some exercises your own body weight is not enough resistance even on the most angled setting.

At home I have a cheap exercise bike and one of those ab-roller sit up thingies and a pair of dumbbells. It helps to stop you from getting to gigantic jabba the hutt size, but if you want real results, hit up the gym.

"gYm? What's a gYm?"

holy cow. that weather is way too cold to be living in.

my friend used to have a home gym set and she used it a lot. I think it has more to do with you making yourself set up a certain time to work out than where you work out. But the fun thing about a gym is that you get to walk around and look at all the neat exercise contraptions. you know?

the bally's I went to for a while was about five or six miles from my house. By the time I would have walked/ran there I would have been done with my workout

Winter in Duluth and Minneapolis isn't that different. I've gone running in conditions just like the ones you list, and didn't have a problem. Just toss on some long underwear and another shirt, use the hood on your sweatshirt along with a hat and glove, and there's no problem if you don't want there to be one. No excuses.

The best is when the steam coming off your head freezes and coats your hat in frost/ice.

well more reps will "cut" you so to speak and the more you lift, yes you do tear your muscles and when the go back they are bigger than before. i know a guy that does nothing but push ups. he did get a little stronger, but his bench max wasn't all that impressive, but like i said it will "cut" your chest.

i guess if you're not training for a sport though getting as strong as you can really isn't as important.

Unless, say, you were working out for, um, I dunno, functional strength.
