Why, when you turn eighteen, you can legally buy cigarettes, rent porn, go to strip clubs, and buy lottery tickets...

Yet you cannot drink until you are 21?

yeah, they can send you off to war to kill for them, but you can't have a drink till you're mature enough for that. you know, it might be corrupting to a 19 year old in the military.

Doesn't the brain start to die when you reach seven years old or something? As far as learning goes, that continues throughout your entire life. Bad judgement call!

no it's just that america is a protestant society and doesn't value wine as much as catholic countries. except that reasoning doesn't hold up when you look at like smoking which protestants also probably don't approve of but neither do catholics. plus america was sort of founded on tobacco. plus sweden, germany, etc is a protestant country and i doubt their drinking age is over 18. sigh.

No, I'm pretty sure pretty much all of Europe is 18. And I think some places are even 16-17.

Hmm. I don't think that's true, Desi, you CAN gamble when you're 18 because I went to the Miccasuki Indian Casino and they were all fine with letting me in. Also, it's okay to bet on dogs in the race track and they let you play lottery when you're 18.

And Glenn, I think you're wrong... for some reason, I have to be 21 to get into a strip club, cos I tried, and I was all like, wtf? It's not like I haven't seen a woman's naked body before.

Maybe these rules just apply in Miami, I dunno. :\

Anyway, whatever, I only have like... 6 more months till I'm 21 god that's fucking long. :/

in vegas you can't even fucking stand near a slot machine until you're 21.

and ummmm i think for the strip club thing, it depends on whether they serve alcohol or whatever there. that's why cover charges are so cheap, because they assume you're going to buy their overpriced drinks. I don't think they're allowed to sell alcohol in totally nude joints, but they do in topless, so when you're 18 you can see tits and crotch and crack but can't have a beer, but you have to wait til you're 21 to see tits and drink beer.
