Thanks

As far as I can see, all it's saying is that you need to contact the people who host your website so they can update their who is info and get the dns numbers set correctly for your new domain. Because they'll have your old info, and they'll need to correct it since you've changed domains....

I may be wrong though, I've never actually gone through and registered a domain, because I'm cheap.

My coworker's (who do have domain names registered) said you need to email your host (even if they're the ones who just sent you that email) and tell them "my old domain was .... my new domain is .... my old name server was .... my new nameserver is .... " etc. so they can update their records

Let me try...

You transferred your domain right?

The registrar is you, so I think you have to contact your hosting service and tell them all...

have you bought your domain separatly from the hosting service? if so, you will have to contact the company where you registered your domain. or you could have gotten an account at your registrar where you can change such stuff yourself.. if you bought the domain in a bundle with the web-hosting, you should contact the company where you originally bought this bundle (and at this occasion ask them to transfer the domain to your new hoster)

Ok, your webserver people know what domain your site is supposed to respond to. Now you need to tell your domain host where to point your domain. Just email them and say 'please point darcywretzky.org at the following nameservers:
ns.avdns5.com
ns2.avdns5.com'
give them the IP addresses if you want, but you're probably better with just the names. Then you'll be set!

Actually I just did a lookup, and it's all set. Now you just need an hour or so (at the most) for the DNS information to propagate, and it should all be working

Hey that's ok - tell the webhost people to get their asses in gear, it should take a couple of minutes to update their records.
