As worried as when Bush was 'handed' the election? As worried as when that plane crashed in China? Worried as much the few weeks after 9/11?

even so, nothing has really changed.

Stupid Orange County conservative. The deregulation thingy was signed into law under Wilson. Not that Davis is great, but he's not Simon.

Our Democrat sucked. I (okay... actually my family) went Republican. At least for governor. I have no idea about the rest. But we're normally Democrat and we would've been this time, had our candidate not had been so lame.

I admit that I am politically ignorant.

those few percentage points = rent or car payment for a year

This is true, but those same few percentage points for people making over $1 million a year are worth a hell of a lot more. Which makes the tax cuts so frustrating; it's fucking obvious that trickle-down economics doesn't really work to either really kickstart the economy or promote more equality--which, when it was first implemented in the 1930s, was the whole idea to begin with. Basically, it's Republicans' way of staying in bed with big business in much the same way that Democrats are frequently in bed with trial lawyers. The difference is that with the Dems, the benefits others receive don't help to widen the gap between the rich and the poor.

i had already checked the precincts that hadn't reported yet to see how they voted in previous elections before i ever made this thread. btw i just wanna brag that i predicted Shannon County in South Dakota to pull Johnson to victory by less that 1,000 votes. he won by 520

yeah, i heard about Roy Barnes(the Georgia governor) losing, and i thought that was pretty sad. i mean, going into the 2002 election, he was actually favored to win(and had a bigger war chest, too!).

and btw, to Fattening Ass, its nice to see you voted too(and that i wasn't the only netphorian who voted).

then again, at least, we now have a Democratic governor in Illinois for the 1st time in a quarter-century!! (and i also voted for him)

Michigan has a democrat governor for the first time in 12 years! (I helped with that)... anyway, Jennifer Grandholm is MI's first female governor. And she's Canadian. (j/k)

Of course she had to say something stupid like, "I'm not making history, I'm making HERstory!"

Supply-side economics have proven to bolster the economy. Hello, Reagan. Whether you agree with the policy or not, it has traditionally squeezed unemployment and boosted investment in the stock market and improved the overall economy.

In the short term. In the long term, it royally fucks people over; if supply-side economics were allowed to go unchecked, they would collapse the American economy. (Hello, Hoover? I think so.) The growing gap between the rich and the poor is a direct result of Reaganomics, and aside from any moral/social issues at stake, it's an atrocious long-term economic policy.
