gay kids somehow come out of straight marraiges. If people want to focus on the family unit , gay couples would have one up over single parents that legally can adopt right now.

what concerns me more is whether or not gay couples, married or unmarried, should be allowed to adopt children. while they might provide a good loving home, chances are the kid will grow up warped because they've had it different from others. that's worrying and unfair on the children.

Plenty of very warped individuals come out of "straight" homes too. I'm willing to bet that kids from gay homes will be no more fucked up then their straight-parent counterparts. It prevents the whole "oops, forgot the pill, hey look! a baby!" unwanted pregnancy issue. Gay couples who adopt, or go through whatever channel to reproduce, have gone to great lengths compared to your average accidental pregnancy. (Note: I am not comparing pre-planned pregnancies and straight parent adoptions.) There are plenty of single parents and super poor parents raising kids, and who is to say that those kids are going to be less screwed up then their classmate who has two very loving, supportive mothers?
