are there Boxing Day sales in the US as well?

although I realise Dec 26th isn't called Boxing Day there is it? anyway, do all the malls and stores have mass sales on, so that more people go shopping than they did even leading up to xmas?
I'm off to some stores soon, where there is 50% off gamecube games

Dec. 26 is Boxing Day. Sales start on the 27th because everything is closed on the 25-26th.

No, this is only an east coast thing.
The rest of Canada has the boxing day sales and shit on the 26th.

I bought copious amounts of alcohol on Boxing Day!

It's the day after Christmas, where all the stores mark down their stuff to ridiculously low prices and hoardes of people come and spend tons of cash.

history lesson:

boxing day refers to the day immediately after christmas day where rich people would put their leftover turkey/food into boxes and hand them out to the neighbourhood poor.

it originated in england.

I'm American yet I call it Boxing Day, mostly cause I like to say "Boxing Day." Surprisingly, everyone I've said it to understood I meant the 26th, too. So good work.
