Default what's the best program for removing spyware?

goddamn cookies! i'm asking for a FREE spyware remover, because i spent all my money on food this month.
this is what the computer tells me:

Scan type: Realtime Protection Scan
Event: Virus Found!
Virus name: W32.Adclicker.G.Trojan
File: C:\Program Files\syslaunch.exe
Location: C:\Program Files
Action taken: Clean failed : Quarantine failed : Access denied

how do i kill this fucker with the least amount of money spent?

spybot search and destroy or adaware are both free as far as i know. together they get rid of pretty much everything.

ad-aware for spyware

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

for the trojan, you can manually delete it if your anti-virus program specifies where it is. Otherwise open up windows in safe-mode and run the virus scan again.

i have adaware and it doesn't remove it.
i tried this "spy killer pro" and it found a lot of "hidden" spyware, but didn't offer to remove it unless you bought the software. i also have norton antivirus corporate version and it's not killing it.

the trojan isn't spyware.

Spyware just collects info about sites you visit, etc.

Trojans are actual viruses, or rather programs which enable other people to have access and control of your computer.

First, reboot your computer in safe mode and see if your virus scanner will work. If not, reboot and then run it the first thing you can when Windows comes up.

Then get SpyBot search and destroy.

If that doesn't work, go fuck yourself.

but i do that last one anyway....

ok i know how to reboot it but i forgot how to go into safe mode. Is that when you press f10 as the windows screen comes up? i haven't done it in forever. what does safe mode do that regular boot up doesn't?
oh and i've tried to manually delete it, but it always says "cannot delete syslaunch.exe the file is currently in use" i've also signed off my messenger services and unplugged the lan connection, but to no avail.

You didn't say what operating system you're on, Genius.

Anyway, try this:
Click Start, and then click Run. (The Run dialog box appears.)
Type regedit
Then click OK. (The Registry Editor opens.)
Navigate to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

In the right pane, delete the value:
"Wardo"="C:\WINDOWS\syslaunch.exe"
Exit the Registry Editor.
Reboot.

What?

Ok, maybe you'd better stay out of the registry after all.

It wasn't that hard to follow your directions, and i did exactly what you said. it wasn't there. this isnt' a measurment of competency, it's a misunderstanding in what my computer has.
i'll run all the spyware software and then run the computer in safe mode, and if that doesn't work i'll end up taking it to office depot where my warrenty is still good!

thanx anyway!

disonnectiong the pc from all networks is the first thing you should do when you notice that is has been compromised.
it's really hard to determine what exactly has been modified and reinstalling is usually the easiest way out.

i did run it and now i have to restart. i'm wondering if i should restart it in safe mode after i ran spybot and it said that some components couldn't be erased due to being used by the system or being in the memory and i should "restart the computer"
OR should i regular restart for spybot to remove the components and THEN run in safe mode?

what happened was my friend had one of those porn viruses in her AIM profile and i thought it was a link to a subprofile so i clicked it and now have the trojan worm on my computer.

i can't phrase any questions properly because i'm running on 3 hours of sleep intersperssed with a 2 hour nap and chick fil-a fries. that and i never form questions properly.

No, regular restart if a program asks you to restart.

Then try Spybot again.
