Question More mp3 player stuff...

Ok, I don't really give a shit about FM radio, recording gigs, pretty interfaces, engraving and stuff like that.

I want an mp3 player of at least 20 gigs which is extremely good value for money (I am relatively low on cash but have no musics), works for a decent amount of time, with a decent battery life, and just plain sounds good.

Taking into account i use big fuckoff headphones that make some personal stereos/cd players sound quiet even when up quite loud.

Suggestions?

Man I'm so out of touch with these gadgets...

Would you carry that around like any regular mini-disc player? Say for a work-out or a jog

Damn this is a current article and they've left out all the most popular cases. I've never even heard of these. I go to the ipodlounge forum, its great. Tons of info.

I have the belkin battery pack. I'll be using it a lot on my upcoming flight. :erm

Red face

I'm leaning towards the 30Gb Zen NX.

I just got an iRiver 120, over the Zen Xtra. The interface is so easy, and attractive. It really doesn't resemeble the pictures very much.

this is a very good choice if you're not concerned with size (which i'm guessing you're not, since you're using big cans). creative's price is hard to beat. the dell is another good cost-effective answer.

I got my 60gig nomad Zen for $360.00 I believe. I really like it, even though it doesnt have the eye-candy appeal of the iPod.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

I think I'm going to go for the Zen NX. Yeah I'm using big fuckoff cans so I couldn't really give a shit about the size of the thing, I'll probably stick it in my bag anyway, the lead on my headphones is super long.

See if I was torn between the iRiver and the iPod, I'd go for the iRiver, and I'll admit I think it looks gorgeous and better designed than the NX. However.. I'm in the UK, and after a look around, the iRiver 120 is £244.99, but I can get the 30 gig Zen NX for just under £200.

Up till my minidisc died lately I hadn't considered an mp3 player, but nowadays I'd like to just have my whole music collection with me all the time. I've decided on the Zen NX mainly because everyone seems to say the sound quality humps the iPod, it's got price and storage space on it's side. Some people seem to put down the design of the software and the controls on it, but at the end of the day I'm going to be pressing play and sticking it in my bag or my pocket.

I have an old mp3 player that can hold a whopping 32Mb of data!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it doesn't work with Windows XP. I have a NetMD anyway, it's da bomb.

There's always the Rio Karma - it's smaller than the iPod (a little thicker though), it has comparable sound quality to the Zen and it has a bunch of playlist options. It's not released in Europe yet but there's a thread here where someone mentions a few places that ship internationally, and the one he ordered from works out about £170 before shipping. Only thing is, the standard warranty is only 90 days so mosr people are getting extended ones.
