Reagan's foreign policy was a joke. I get a huge chuckle out of anybody who gives him sole credit for the end of the Cold War. If anything, Nixon deserves more credit than he gets, Reagan a lot less than he gets. Certainly the Reagan administration's exorbitant spending didn't slow down the end of conflict, but the mechanisms were already in motion when he came into office, and it's just woefully silly to ignore the Soviet end of it as conservatives always seem to do.

Oh, and don't even talk about the crack epidemic. The government blew that stuff up so ridiculously it wasn't even funny. Bush the First's "historic" speech on TV where he held up the bag of drugs and said it was found across the street from the White House was prefabricated. They couldn't find any drug dealers there, so they had to call up a known dealer and set up a bust in order for the speech to have any semblance of truth.

The Reagan coin must be minted while Reagan is still with us, so that he may bless every coin with the power to warn off Indian curses. Maybe Gypsy curses too.

the people of Nicaragua are greatly indebted to the U.S. for starting an unncessary secret war there in the 80's, I'm sure.

can you imagine how much better things would be today if Reagan cared about AIDS more than the fucking Meese Commission?

While there are certainly class differences, there aren't centuries of extreme class stratification that you get in most European industrialized countries. Our plethora of natural resources and the current base of our economy gives us the best probability of devising an equitable capitalist/socialist mix (dont bitch, conservatives, we already are one.) that allows both for great wealth generation and great wealth distribution. You can be pissed about the current state of our country and culture. I sure as hell am. But to say you "truly hate America" is fucking retarded and you sound like a ridiculous 13 year old who just discovered shallow left-wing politics. And you add fuel to the fire for conservatives who will use it to stoke the flames against liberals because most rational people realize what an enormous amount of potential this government and country still has. Real progressives don't need or want people like you.

So in summation: Get the fuck off of my cause.
Amen.

I want him to post more, too. It's just a shame that it takes a Tessellation rant to get him in here.
