My Job

Ok, I know I've posted about what I do now a few times but since people keep wondering where I've been and since there are some science people here.

Plus I think I have the coolest job out of anyone here.

I am a geologist. I work for an environmental company who has a patented new technology in chemical oxidation. Basically we clean up contaminated soil for large companies and industries that need to have it done quickly. We travel to whatever city they are at with our rigs and build a series of injector wells (10-700 wells, 1-50ft underground). We then inject hydrogen peroxide and catalysts to react with the contaminants to break them down to non-toxic by products. What makes my job cool is 1) the fact that I get to travel all over the US 2) the people I work with could not be any cooler and are laid back and love to party hard at night and c) the enormous amount of paid overtime, 125 dollar per day living expenses and travel bonuses (last month I get 900 tax free dollars for traveling 16 days in the month) on top of normal salary.

yeah that sounds like fun. i wish my job involved travel. i think i have the coolest desk job possible though.

I have the coolest job ever. I just took some pics of my "office" and will try and post them later when I get home. I get to travel to all the small towns in southwest Iowa, I work out of an old gas station, and I am helping the son of a mill worker beat the son of a president.

Your job does sound really cool. I always want to keep a job that involves adventure of some sort.

For my job I get to go all over Chicago and observe/interview people about very diverse subjects, and I work with supercool people, too. We've got something very cool coming up: we're doing the qualitative analysis of a survey of World Trade Center disaster survivors, their escape route, their feelings, etc. Someone else did the interviews but I'll get to read the notes and rewrite them to conform to atlas.ti (some software for that purpose).
