You should ask for IBU 800 (Ibuprofen 800 MG). Unlike standard pain killers, they don't affect alertness or clarity and don't cause drowsiness or hyperactivity.

true i have been known to scratch in there with the pinky nail but i havent been doing it since my last ear infection when i thought well maybe that's why i get them. i think its probably just from being around kids- i already got sick once since i started teaching so i guess this is number two. they told me i'd be sick for the first, oh ya know, yea. and then i would be immune to everything *prays*

I don't know anything about ear infections, so I dunno...but I think that the best thing would be just to take the stronger pain killers, and just rest for as long as you can. Don't do more than you have to. It's great that you're willing to grit your teeth and go to work and all that...but sometimes it's better for everyone if you stay home and rest for a day. Your body needs time to replenish itself.

Hah! What do you play?
I need to get some good earplugs that actually reduce the volume instead of just making it unintelligible.

good for you! i was worried that your ear infections were caused by non-clean earplugs. thank you for proving me wrong.

did you tell your doc what you use as earplugs?

Cotton can cause an ear infection, its actually a yeast infection. Even putting q tips deep into your ears can give you this...so I'm sure that tissue in your ears is not really a good option.

Oh man. I'm sorry, I can't imagine how bad it must hurt. Ear infections are one of those things that just get worse to have when you get older, I've noticed. Feel better.
