Question Did Andrew get a ton more server space? There's over 50,000 posts up!

I was noticing this when i attempted to delete all my posts. it used to be that anything to far over 10,000 on the general chat was too much- now there's 37,000 in general chat! also you couldnt count on a general chat thread to last more than 2 days after the last person posted on it- now the 11th page is 5 days since its been posted on.

can we expect this to be the norm now?

Probably comes from holding individual messages instead of entire HTML files

and the fact, that databases compress the data and html-files don't

another thing is, that a signature is only saved once, and not every time posted.

Fine! I'll go make my own
web site. With Blackjack,
and Hookers... Actually,
forget the web site.

Exactly, with Vbulleting it hardly takes up any drive space.

UBB was such a disk hog, creating huge cgi files for posts and then the actual html pages as well, so whatever the size of the thread was it was actually taking up double the space on the server.

Now with Vbulletin we can pretty much leave all the posts for now, just let it rack up and I don't have to worry about the disk space.

On the music board however a large amount of threads got deleted somehow but I am not sure how that happened exactly....
