well, it has an fm-rceiver and it can record cd-audio...so it acutally gives you more for about the same kind of money...although it doesn't look as good as the ipod....

i think i am going to be purchasing this camera after christmas. unless the nikon coolpix 3700 turns out to be better. it's only 3.2mp, but it can do upwards of a minute of VGA video which i think would be cool, and it's about the same size as the S400. even if the picture quality is comparable, i think i am still leaning towards the S400.

yeah. i so wanted to go with the SD100 because of its new price, but I want a reasonably good camera that won't be TOO outdated come next year or so. I figured if i get a camera i might as well spend some $$ and get a good one.

iPods are a ripoff but they're the best product so whatever. Unless you want to do some recording like Severin I guess. To each his own.

They shipped my iPod last night from Shanghai by FedEx!

Hey Severin, does it have some decent mic inputs so you could get a good quality recording with it?

I believe the coolpix can't record sound with its movies. I'm not sure though. I did a lot of research before buying my camera.

the dell dj seems like a good deal. the 15gig version is only $300 canadian, so probably 200 US. also it's the least ugly of the non-ipods, in my opinion.

update: the 20gb dell dj is on sale for $300 USD. it got the choice award from cnet. i'm thinking of picking one up.

I am in the market for a digital jukebox type of thing and after reading that I think I like the ipod better... You cant shuffle a playlist on the iriver?! what the fuck, honestly thats what i will be doing all the time. that alone would sway me towards the ipod... Im glad i read that.

"iRiver just came out yesterday with a beta firmware release. It implements playlist shuffle AND allows the user to shuffle by artist, album and genre. Nice! "

That iriver looks good if you wanted to do some recording, but I think iPod is best if you just want to play some music. CUZ ITS SMALL AND PRETTY!!
