All right kids. So I sent my resume and animation reel to a company, and you know how you have to bug people to interview you and everything. "BE AGGRESSIVE". Well I'm not aggressive. I'm terrified of people, especially in a corporate setting. I loathe the thought of marketing oneself, and I think my work sucks. Naturally, I have to pretend I'm proud and competant, which I do very well short-term. I'm trying to EMAIL the producer for this company www.primalscreen.com, and I'm so scared of just that. What do people like us do? Help.

Also, once you get in the routine of being aggresive in the job search and doing all those things you're supposed to do then it will all seem easy. Then you'll be able to go from faking it short term to just plain faking it. I've gotten to the point where I love sending out cover letters, resumes and portfolios because you have the ability to frame yourself in the best possible light. Your reel is your best material. Your resume is a totally biased portrayal of yourself. And if you have a cover letter it's just a flat out promotional piece. |
