my ipod broke

My computer stopped being able to read it and said that I have to run updater.

okay. erase my ipod and update.

locks up on the update.

now the ipod screen is locked, it won't let me turn it off, nothing happens when I toggle the hold switch, and my computer still won't recognize it. It still says I need to update it, but everytime I run it, it locks up.

fuck this.

I have no idea if I'm under warrenty or not. I bought it in August. yep.

Should have at least a year. You might be able to RMA it and get a new one.

yeah i'm going to call the 800 number tomorrow. they helped me last time, but they're closed now. if not, i'll take it to the apple store and they'll give me a new one.

it just sucks not having it becuase i seriously use it EVERYDAY. for EVERYTHING.

I think there's this apple care service for $59 that lasts two years and covers battery also. I should look into that, the 3rd gen iPod battery craps out after around 18 months supposedly. Its $50 for a new one if you want to install yourself and fuck up the case.

You said you couldn't turn it off, but could you reset the ipod? Reset ipod = hold menu+play/pause buttons for 10 seconds.
