anybody watch this show? its one of the wierder & more interesting offerings of the new TV season. At first I thought Western + sci-fi = gay. But it took me about 2 episodes to get into the swing of things. If you buy into the concept that its basically a western set in outer space then you can really have some fun with it. Probably the best episode, and some of the best TV I've seen all year was "Out of Gas". Try to download that episode, its a nice timeframe shifting episode in the vien of Pulp Fiction and Memento. Great direction on it too.
still, the show is probably going to die due to a shitty timeslot. I know I never really get to watch it Friday's at 8 so I just download them. I think a shift to Sunday - Tuesday nights would be a good move for it. but the show isn't based on week-in-week-out viewing ala Buffy (which was a reason I didn't drop into the show because trying to view it cold gives me a headache) cuz its more episodic in format. one thing that I can say is that is unique & original TV viewing which is more than I can say for the dreck that is usually on TV (Baby Bob, My Wife and Kids, Friends, etc.) |

i love firefly. ive seen each episode and will be quite disappointed if its cancelled =(. i agree with all your points and out of gas is my favorite episode so far as well. just like buffy and angel, every character on firefly has a perfectly cast actor which is what makes the show work so well. western + scifi can only succeed with really clever writing, and theyve got it. great stuff
