Um. Dude, Davie never pulled out the Green jersies in a regular season game. A couple bowl games. Jerry Faust was the last coach to do it in a regular season game. Davie never had the balls to do it in a regular season game because he could not face the heat if the decision backfired. Ty could give a fuck about the heat.

I don't think you talked to everyone. My friend who was there said the exact opposite thing about the mood. In fact my babble about the Green jersies is sadly influenced by what he told me this evening.

Uh...normally the green jerseys would be pulled out in a game of some kind of signifigance. This game should not have been treated like that....bowl games always are. This should have been just another small step and another relatively easy win. There shouldn't have been anything special about this game. I have no idea why Willingham decided to make this game seem bigger than it should have been.

It was a horrible decision. It's like...hey, since BC doesn't have enough motivation for this game, let's wear a different color!!

If the two teams' situations were switched around, then I'd understand. But they were 8-0 in their blue jerseys. All those damn jerseys did was give BC more of a reason to go out and embarass the hell out of Notre Dame.

And about Willingham not being blamed for the fumbles....A team that fumbles the ball that many times is obviously just not focused. That's really all there is to it. And whose job is it to keep the player's focused?

I think that's EXACTLY why he pulled out the green jerseys...he wanted the team to be focused. This game was PERFECT for a letdown...8-0, just beat Florida State, now you're playing lowly Boston College...everything was perfect. Pulling out the green jerseys should have sent the message that this game was just as important as all the others. it didn't work, but i think it was a smart attempt.

I'm not looking at it that way.

This game was just as important. Exactly. Not any more important. It should have been an easy win. They shouldn't have needed anything extra...and pulling out those jerseys made it seem like ND needed something special to win this game....and they shouldn't have...or something.
