Thumbs up Punch-Drunk Love

Excellent film. Far funnier than I thought it would be, and the music was great. I particularly liked how succint it was(unlike, say, "Magnolia", which was still nice...). Watson was perfect, as was Guzman...

Next up: Adaptation; Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

I wouldn't say Guzman was perferct or anything since his role was relatively small and hardly demanding. I was actually looking forward to his brand of humor but no! Actually this movie didn't need his comedic services to bail it out. Great movie. Oh and the score was fucking great- interesting how they used it as a narrative device.

Soderbergh? No. He will ruin the stately pace and gorgeous long shots and takes with his hyperactive camera work and flashy editing.

Goddamn Hollywood remakes.
I read a review that described it as being a total 2001 knock-off, which is exactly what I thought it'd be. "Full Frontal" was BS, so of course Entertainment Weekly loved it...

i don't expect anything out of Solaris really but there's nothing else coming out that week so i'll go see it.

I agree. I don't think James Cameron has any intention of making a remake of the original, so that's why he hired Soderbergh. Cameron's been around nasa and caltech giving lectures discouraging space exploration and i wouldn't be surprised if he used this film as a vehicle for his message.

idunno. i downloaded it and watched in on my computer. the plot was a lot more enjoyable than the american version, but it was hella campy. the acting in parts wasn't very good, and in general it wasn't shot all that exceptionally. the best part of it was the video itself. and the ending.

If you're gonna watch Solaris, just make certain to watch the new Criterion DVD of the original first.

Soderburgh's balloon is slowly leaking. Watch it.
