Unhappy why do i always distance myself from potential friends/current friends

(rant ahead, you dont have to read it if you dont want...i just needed to outwardly express)

this really cool chick i met at a rave awhile back called me tonight and asked if i wanted to hang out with her...the thing was i didnt answer it and relied on my voicemail to see what was going on.
my current friends ALWAYS call me and i never answer it, or they'll take an interest in something i do that they otherwise think is completely unintersting (my longest lasting friends have actually taken a proactive interest in raves) my friend josh asked if he could ride with me to a party tonight, i told him i was taking someone else and there's only really room for one in my truck, even though there isnt, im way confused on what to do and it always ends the same way, they get mad at me for distancing myself and they never talk to me again. i dont mean to do it, and i really enjoy the company of friends alot of the time, and it's really annoying knowing that there *are* people who actually want to spend time with me, but i somehow cant grasp *why* anyone would wanna hang out with me, and im losing more and more friends because of it.

*sigh*
