go here and download animation shop and paint shop pro. then itll walk you through the process. these are demos but they work for at least a month, and they come with some cool built in features.

Hmm... I should have mentioned I'm using a Mac. I think that's a problem.

Do you have Photoshop? And if so, do you have ImageReady? If you do, you might have to bite the bullet and use that. Put it this way - I made my old avatar in Animation Shop in about 20 seconds, and I made this

in ImageReady and it seemed to take forever. Horrible, horrible animation system. But not as bad as trying to work with MS Publisher
