I didn't read any of the posts except the first....but I sure am sorry for anyone that has to be exposed to John Mayer, especially live.

Too many of my friends like John Mayer. It is painful.

Thumbs down

The problem with John Mayer is that.....how to explain this....he's gotten into this top 40 type stuff...and if you listen to him real early in his career, back when he was at Berkely, he was doing some really amazing acoustic singer/songwriter stuff with this amazing jazzy stuff in there....

He's a mindblowing guitarist, one of the best guitarists out there right now. You just wouldn't really know it from what he puts on record most of the time. The man is a guitar god, he just hasn't played up that aspect of himself, yet. I guess he's happy being on heavy rotation at VH1.

Eh, part of being a good guitarist is knowing what to play. So Peter Buck > John Mayer, for example, even though I'm sure Mayer blows him away technically.

Yeah, well, that's pretty much what I was saying to begin with. Or at least trying to say.
