it's probably fat32, unless you chose to change the system to ntfs when you fresh installed XP.

(NTFS allows you to seperate user accounts so that they don't have access to each others files)
You can get a lot of older games to work by running the compatibility mode. (right click exe file > properties > compatibility)

I think king's quest 2 was one of the very first PC games I played.. I remember having to type in those commands like trial and error to get anywhere in that game, it was pretty ridiculous.
We were playing on a monochrome monitor, so that didn't help matters much.

I've also played king's quest 5 and 6, which were quite a bit better.

Oh man... I loved those games!

I remember spending hours sitting in the computer lab at my old elementary school, playing the first King's Quest on these old dinosaur IBMs...

I don't think I played most of the middle ones, but my brother and I had VI and VII, and played them all the time. Ahh, good times. I would love to play those again.

If it is FAT32 you may be able to make a DOS bootable disk that accesses the drivers on your system. Running in DOS mode would be ideal, if inconvenient

Fucking A, I can't get it to work... it keeps asking for a driver, but I don't know shit about it and I'm too lazy to figure it out.

I can't remember which King's Quest we always played . . .

I remember being at a friend's house for our eigth grade party, and almost 30 kids were crowded around the computer, all of them slient.

i was playing as the girl, and i was in the giant's house, trying to steal his chicken or whatever, and everyone was whispering so they wouldn't "wake him up". it was intense lol
