Well don't forget, gas is a natural resource, and the potential energy contained has been created by natural processes over millions of years. Compressed air may not generate pollution when it releases its energy, put to actual put the energy there in the first place (ie compressing the air) is going to require some industrial process, which in itself will probably cause pollution, unless they start running on renewable energy. It just sounds like they're moving the problem somewhere else
