Default withdrawing from classes?

i'm thinking i want to withdraw from this class. how bad does a W look on your transcript. im a bio/psy major. it is going to take me five years so i thought, hey maybe i'll pick up a minor in PS. i have third world politics and latin american politics right now. they are both pratically the same class, but third world politics bores the living fuck out of me and it is a night class. it really isn't a requirement, so i think i may withdraw from it. but i don't want people in the class to think i couldn't cut it, because i could cut it with ease, it is just a terrible inconvience. i'll still have 14 hours, which is an okay load if i drop it.

i'm just thinking outloud here

anyone drop a class halfway through the semester.

don't make your decision based on what other people in the class will think. that's silly.

but if you have your hopes set on law school, withdrawing from a class because it's boring is also not the wisest idea.

i would only withdraw from a class if i was in serious jeopardy of getting a D or F. (like with my tax class this semester )

I dropped my TV and culture class this semester because it was just too much to handle. I was taking 21 hours and his class was once a week and I just didn't have time for it. Good thing is that I thought it was required, but I was looking the other day and it's not so I don't have to worry about re-taking it. I felt kind of weird being in there since I don't watch television anymore.

If you drop a course within the drop period at my school, they don't mark it on your transcript.

At most schools that period is only the first 12 class days. Maybe not most schools, but it was the same at the 4 schools I've gone to.

Yea, I guess I just don't know what a W is at other schools. At my school, you basically have 0% chance of dropping a class after the drop deadline, unless the prof attacked you or something. Thus, I haven't heard of anyone with a W here.
