Exclamation More fun with sleep paralysis!!

Oh my god.

I posted about the last time something like this happened...

Last night, I was having trouble sleeping. And just as I was drifting off....I thought I heard my door open. I was lying on my side with my back to my door. I tried to move. I couldn't move. I tried to scream. I couldn't scream. I did, however, successfully alter my breaths so that they were loud and frantic. I tried to raise my arm up. I couldn't do it. I was terrified. Worst feeling ever. Fucking shit.

Then like 20-30 seconds later I was fine.

I feel badly for you on one hand, but on the other I wonder what something like that would feel like.

my night terrors usually involve me being smothered they are pretty fucking terrifying. When I am able to wake up from it I will sit up in bed and hold my eyelids open so I don't fall back asleep.
I'm actually doing an informative speech about them tomorrow.

Yeah...when it's over I'm kind of like 'hey, that was interesting.'

But while it's happening...it is terrible. I can't even begin to describe just how horrible it is. But yeah, I read something that said 25-30% of people have similar experiences. Some people only have it once, others almost every night.

I wanna know what causes it.

I did a little bit of research on it after a friend who was a huge dredg fan was talking about it all day. If I remember correctly it's closely related to lucid dreaming, you dream you're awake and you can't move, your mind tricks you into thinking you're concious, so when you wake up it's similar to waking up from a bad dream but you don't know it was a dream. I had one once or twice when I was younger.

Though I could be mistaken, that's just my recollection of the topic, scary shit, though.

i think thats it

im pretty sure the times i "wake up" and cant move at all, whats really happening is im still asleep, but im having a dream that i just woke up and am lying in bed. but when that happens i absolutely hate it, its a terrible feeling to "wake up" and not be able to move. usually waht i do is wiggle my tow, then my foot, then my leg etc.

its still weird since im technically still asleep when its happening

Although few and far between, I've had some fucking wild experiences of this nature. And I can totally relate to feelings of both intense fear and appreciative recollection (after the fact.) My first experience was positively unnerving, but once I recognised the state for what it was the fearful experiences were replaced with less fearful but eerie ones. Now, in an odd, way, I almost sort of enjoy it.

The first experience did start out as a paranoid nightmare of one of my father's girlfriends about to attack him with a broken wine glass after a heated argument, but once I screamed him awake in the next room and saw that I had actually experienced some kind of unusually vivid hallucination ( ) I went back to sleep and had some *real* fun.

The very next part of this experience, about an hour later, involved a feeling of my legs and feet being moved around under the cover by someone or something--and much to my surprise, I could actually see the covers moving. You definitely feel some kind of unknown presence with you in the room, although you can't quite actually see it. Your body starts to tingle all over, as if highly charged with electricity. It's not the same feeling as when a limb gets cramped and goes to sleep, though--it's something different, which feels very weird indeed but not painful. Most surprisingly, this "presense" in the room then started to interact with me physically. I could actually feel "it" touching me.

Later experiences involved basically just the tingling and the presence, although because I was no longer fearful (and recognised that it was really just a product of my own mind), I began to interact with the presence. It became a very erotic experience, actually. Sometimes I talked to it, and told it what to do. It's fucking weird to be interacting with your own mind as if it is a completely separate entity outside your body.
