When I went to Vegas, I stayed at The Frontier...which was super cheap. Use hotels.com, expedia.com, etc. to find the best deal at the best place possible for the days you are going to be there.

was that "downtown" or "on the strip"? Because night and day, there are fucking whackos downtown. Don't go there at night alone.

chris and i are going in january. we don't want to spend more than a hundred a night and there are alot of hotels cheaper than that. i found the mirage at 89 a night. that seems like the nicest for the money. the orleans looked cool. i don't know. there seemed to be alot of nice looking ones but they might be dives.

It was right by the Fashion Mall.

ah, ok. That's cool. That's not far from the Venetian! anything past the stratosphere going north is scary.

The Frontier is definitely a dive. It's a hotel/casino, but definitely low-end. I only paid like $29 a night or something. Good if your goal is to spend as little money as possible.

All the hotel/casinos I went into on the Strip were nice enough. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. Though, I did find the Hard Rock Hotel/Casino particularly cool.

take the mirage over the orleans! location, location, location. and let me know how many street vendors try to pass chris (that's your boyfriend, isn't it?) porno fliers. That always made me laugh.

29....shit, that's scary. It's in a decent location, though.

Where did you go? And didn't you see Oasis there? I had tickets to see them in 2000 (I stood in line for hours with drunkards with fake british accents), but didn't make it

Yep, I went there for Oasis. So I spent a whole day there at the Hard Rock Hotel/Casino (since the Oasis concert was there). And then I wandered through most of the casinos on the Strip and I went to Hoover Dam and Lake Meade. It nice, fun little trip.

Definitely take the Mirage. The first time I went, I stayed at the NY NY, and then at the Rio. I would suggest staying right on the strip, as opposed to staying at the Hard Rock, Rio or Palms. The Mirage is a great hotel though, so I would take that.
