Default so who here is still taking paxil?

and how long have you been taking it for now?

I've been taking 20mg a day for about 11 months now, and I am only now beginning to think about getting off it, although I doubt I'll be able to do it for a while, it will probably take me a few tries.

Paxil made my mother crazy... instead of calming her and making her more sociable... it did the exact opposite. I'm glad they took her off that, she was terrible to be around when she was on it.

Although I've heard of lots of people who have had wonderful results with it.

I don't really know much about it though... is it habit forming?

doctors say it isn't addictive, but many people have alot of trouble coming off the drug due to the harsh withdrawal symptoms. I think that I'm addicted to it in a way, since I doubt I could get through some days without it. it does suck that I have to rely on a drug that plays with my brain though. hopefully this time next year I'll be free of it and still healthy

it's easier said than done man, I've tried tapering off it slowly for a little bit but I feel like total shit before I even make it to 10mgs. I don't want to be sick

I was on paxil for like 8 months when I was having panic attacks. I couldn't get off paxil because I was scared of the withdrawl symptoms and not knowing how I'd feel. One day I started to have a penis that wasn't as happy before so I decided to get off it. I went from 30mg to 0 in like 2 weeks. It really wasn't that bad. You'll have those nice electrical flashes in the begining but that's about it. I recommend just starting to quit now. Don't think about it that much and try to stay busy

really? I had that problem at the very beginning of taking the drug, it went away after about a fortnight though

when I first starting taking it it took me forever to climax but then that was alright after like 2 weeks. then when I decided to quit while fucking I would start going limp. Once that started to happen I decided to quit. my penis has been fine ever since

8 years and counting

it makes me nuts

i can't even really go into the whole situation. it's a huge mess. i was even going to be a class member in a lawsuit going on in california, but my parents didn't send me the paperwork in time to have it back to the lawyers within 20 days

I've been on Paxil for about 2 years... I was taking 60mg a day (for OCD, mainly), but now I am down to 50mg and within days it will be 40mg... I so needed that help 2 years ago, but now I feel much more stable, so me and my doc are seeing how it goes with smaller doses

and yes, Paxil has kind of deranged my libido... during some periods of time it has no effect on it, then my libido is dead, or sometimes it takes literally forever to get off... it is not that I don't like jerking off, but after 2+hours it starts being boring!

why have you needed to keep on upping the dosage? didn't it ever work at 20mg or so?

i was on 20 for a year, and then it just didn't seem to work as well. and then they bumped me up to 40 and the side effects were horrible and the social effects were minimal. so i quit. in a stepdown.

even though it helped me with my social anxiety and curbed my mood swings it didn't eliminate my depressive periods. and it made me so damn apathetic. nevermind.

what do you mean by stepdown? you just went from 40 to 0 in one go, or you tapered?

I've always been too scared to take any anti-depressant. All the side effects and problems getting off of them freak me out. But sometimes I wonder if they would help.
