Default are you satisfied with your computers' performance?

im not, my monitor is blurry and lame, my s-video out dosent work the way it used to.

when i had my geforce ti4400, ALL videos would play fullscreen on my tv while i did whatever it was i did on the computer, and my monitor was brilliant and full of life, this new videocard is a shit and a half.

Up until 2 weeks ago I had a Pentium 2 processor (at what speed escapes me) 190 mb of ram, and an 8 or 10 GB hard drive with windows 98. Now I have a P4 at 2.x ghz with 640 mb and windows XP, and 80 GB hard drive. Now is it top of the line? Hell no, but it's shitloads better than what I had. So, yeah. On top of which we just got DSL (bye bye AOL), so currently I'm on that high you get whenever you get something new. But it sounds like we have different comp uses.

What did you upgrade to exactly? I'd have thought a Ti4400 would be more than you need at the moment - you might want to get some decent drivers for... whatever it is

the only computer that I have, that works, only partially though, is a 133 mhz. its mouse does not work. its soundcard is fucked. If I install anything, it crashes. So no, I'm not too satisfied.

It does what I need it to do for the moment.

Since I'm not playing games I'm not too worried about the video/cpu performance.

But the Z-560's, Viewsonic VP171b and MX700 make for pretty decent web surfing and music listening.

My computer freezes most of the time when I try to decode SHNs to WAVs, when I try to verify MD5s, when I try to burn a CD, and basically sporadically throughout the day. It also fails to load windows about 60% of the time and requires me hitting the restart button on about 20 attempts before it loads correctly. The monitor settings are messed up, and it keeps leaving black frames of varying widths around the outside the picture, so I keep having to adjust the width and height settings but it's still not taking up the full screen.

Thank chemical chance I'm getting a laptop in about two weeks.

I'll take this opportunity to show off my system which I'm mostly satisfied with.

Athlon XP 2000+ overclocked to 1700mhz
Asus A7V333-Raid
1024mb Samsung DDR333 PC2700 @ 2.0 cycle latency
Thermaltake Volcano 7+ heatsink & fan w Arctic Silver thermal paste
350w Enermax psu w fan control
120g 7200rpm Western Digital HDD, 80g 5400rpm & 40g 7200rpm Maxtor HDDs all @ ATA133 using white rounded IDE cables (has 3 fan)
Lian-Li PC65-USB silver anodize aluminum case with Factory Window
Samsung 19" SyncMaster 900p monitor
ATI All In Wonder 128 pro 32mb 4x AGP
Delta Audiophile 2496
Plextor 161040A CDRW drive
Sony DRU-500ax DVD+/-RW drive
A floppy drive!
A network card..

I think thats it.

The monitor is kinda dying, its darker than it should be and I think its burning out. It also sometimes goes black for half a second and then comes back. This happens rarely.

I could use a more powerful graphics card.

Oh yeah I also got this badass adapter that lets you go psx dualshock controller>usb for games like GTA Vice City

My computer's performance in bed is rapidly deteriorating. When we first met, we would have sex any time, any place! But these days, she seems reluctant. Just as well I have a 3 year warranty.

I read that as a woman reaches middle-age they lose the desire to have sex. Maybe this is her problem.

i didnt upgrade at all. i traded in the Ti4400 for an Fx5200, and used the remaining money to buy an ipod.

im having a hard time getting good drivers for this and decided it's all the manufacturer's fault for my woes, so im going to trade it in for an all in wonder radeon or something.

other than that my computer works beautifully

1.4ghz amd athlon w/ 512 DDR (Dance dance revolution?)
i have a total of 4 hard drives
-20gb (OS hard drive)
-120gb (shit hard drive)
-80gb (backup)
-10gb (linux partition)

i have an antec super ultra quiet power supply, along with one of those PC Toys flower heatsinks that just requires a regular case fan to cool...so my computer is completely silent...and that's great.
