The Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Machina II’ rework is finished and will have at least 80 songs, says Billy Corgan

I’m looking forward to a mix which finally does these songs justice, in the spirit of the era, with a wide dynamic range to really showcase the instrumental layering and-

I'm a bit confused as well. But it sounded like Machina is 50 songs and with all the bonus stuff it's 80 songs.
Machina 2 has got to be included in that.

And we are getting the Razor Blade take of Dross.

Fans can’t wait to meet the new character given how famously pivotal and well-drawn Zero and ummm... Glass? were to the success of Smashing Pumpkins’ music.

2021 WPC is trying to re-work their legacy according to his current taste and without the vision and talent of his glory days.

And...wtf happened to CYR?! No mention of a double album released just two months ago?

If you want to, I'm sure you wouldn't be missed. Not around here anyway.

Also, no one has ever died from AIDS.

I wonder what the first track in the completed sequence will be. Seems like it might be a few options:

1. Glass’ Theme
2. Everlasting Gaze
3. Pale Scales
4. Some completed variation instrumental of the Machina theme / Le Deux Machina

My guess would be that it will be #4. Especially since it’s a concept album, I could see him trying to emphasize that point with a theme piece that weaves throughout the entire thing, similar to how the Mellon Collie theme made its appearance in the first track, the end of Ruby, the end of Farewell + Goodnight, and in Infinite Sadness on vinyl. That Machina theme piece will probably make its appearance a few times throughout the album for cohesion’s sake.

I always thought the Machina story was hyper convoluted and contrived, trying way too hard to be intellectual and philosophical... like it was Billy’s rushed version of The Wall. As much as I feel it to be lame, though, I could potentially be interested if he successfully paints some weird picture of a rock star who basically goes insane with visions of the voice of God speaking through him and all that.

As someone obsessed with MACHINA and its various potential configurations I always opened with If There Is a God. Soniclovenoize does the same in their reconstruction.

I open my reconstruction of Machina with Slow Dawn.
I follow it up with Slow Dawn.
And finish with a mellow number... it’s Slow Dawn.

Did anyone listen to Le Deux Machina more than one time back in September 2000?

In my mind's eye, I've always imagined this completely different band version of If There Is a God that sounds more like Pink Floyd's In The Flesh. Like it comes in crashing with the sustained chords, and then strips away when the vocal come in. And then the band kicks in again at the end.

I'm really interested in what Corgan puts together, but three discs is fucking absurd.

Is it the concert within an album thing that makes you think of In The Flesh? I was just thinking about The Wall in relation to Machina. Definitely some similarities

Not gonna lie, I'd take 5 discs from this period over the Shiny/Cyr stuff.

I'm sure Bill will issue a statement condemning the actions of his pal, tour mate and litigious bully & all round p.o.s. Marilyn Manson, just like he did with...

The Manson abuse has been a known open secret for years, but she's been too terrified to name him publicly.

I'm glad she's finally coming forward.
