That’s really the thing for me. The dropped consonants/shaky vibrato. Sounding like he’s queasy and holding back throwing up. If he just sang without trying to pretend like he can sing “professionally,” it would sound way more sincere and earnest. He’s never had a good singing voice—but at least back in the day it would sound endearing. Now it sounds cringe and incoherent.

Take songs like Blank, or Shame, or Stumbeline, or To Forgive. He could totally sing all those today, as there aren’t any crazy screaming parts, etc. Pretty straight forward, chill. But if he were to do then today, shit—you wouldn’t be able to understand half of the words, because of his crap new singing style.

I’ve just assumed it’s a tick be developed from trying to “improve” his singing over time, and it got out of control, and he can’t get rid of it.

Yep, it's the new voice that just instantly kills anything new he releases, for me. That's why this MCIS/Machina follow-up is gonna be such a disaster too.

I genuinely don't think I would've gotten into the 88-00 run of the band if his vocals were like they are now, they're that grating and obnoxious.

We assume the recent releases are about Bill wanting to indulge and service his ego and prove he can go head to head with his peers, but the motivation might be more monetary... with the length of this album and the length of Cotillions, and both indulging in a plethora of generic cliches, although new ground for the Pumpkins, I wonder if these releases are intended to literally showcase Billy's versatility as a producer for any prospective clients? As in he can do country, and he can do indie synth pop...

The pink haze vinyl is pretty rare at 2000 copies. It was a bit pricey, but a cool vinyl to have, at least until the next sp album comes out. Its too bad my new apartment sucks for listening to music without headphones.

No. They are rat bastards. Anyways, I still never got my vinyl. I contacted tsp customer support. I am not sure what is taking so long. Was this album released in 24/96? If I could get a hold of those files I would probably just sell my vinyl at this point. Weren't these supposed to ship priority mail?? I cannot even track mine.

Well I have listened to cyr, but I had to listen streaming with apple music while I wait for my cyr penal haze edition to arrive. In the meantime I have also located mcis in 24 96 and that album sounds great, even with headphones. Maybe the cyr vinyl will sound better than the lossy apple music files.

I still got a piece of thom yorke's tape from the moon shaped pool special edition. B0lly probably would have given tape pieces away with cyr if ratbastard quinto wouldn't have baked all the master tapes.
