Yes, I know the answer is optimally "shouldn't be there"

Fifty tracks, and this will contain not only that but some BC home acoustic demos and tracks that never made it far past rough/early stages.

Not only that but since we've had 20 years to digest multiple versions of quite a few tracks you can bet there will be people upset by the selection of version X over Y etc for the main album.

The best version of Machina is your own personal mix or tracklist and that's probably not going to change.

yeah i agree with those saying untitled is garbage. it never made sense to me that bill felt it was a 'victory lap' of sorts, proving to the doubters that he could 'still write those singles and sound like siamese dream any time he wants' (paraphrasing of course). it's not very good, sounds nothing like machina (or siamese dream for that matter). feels shoehorned in, not a natural part of machina

the only thing it has in common with machina i guess is that it is annoying, and machina has some annoying elements (heavy metal machine, bill's voice, that little part in everlasting gaze with no music and just his voice, blue skies bring tears droning on too long, parts of crying tree of mercury, etc.)

don't get me wrong, the great parts of machina are indeed great. but untitled is not one of them

Remember when Billy announced at a Zwan performance Declarations of Faith was the first Zwan song he’d written and then looked at Paz, who was surprised (because it obviously wasn’t true)... like he was gloating “I can say any old shit and they’ll buy it”. Also DoF is a very shit song.

Untitled is cool. one of the first songs that gripped me as i was just getting into the band and going thru Rotten Apples

i actually love it as a farewell thing, it's this weird bittersweet happy love song, but you know the band is over. the time signatures are cool.

yeah, it's like a s/zwan song; it's like the epilogue of a book hinting towards the next one in the series.

I don't dislike Untitled the song, I dislike the mix. Needs a bit more breathing space.

Also calling it "Untitled" is just dumb.

But it does move along quite nicely, his voice is a good mix of soft and loud, and the acoustic guitars are nice too. Could've been a way to move forward for SP if they hadn't split - warmer, lighter music, after the darkness and heaviness of the Adore / Machina era. So sort of like Zwan but without it being Zwan, and without the Zwan singing.

So is Untitled their "I Me Mine"?

I would say it doesn't sound like it came from any SP era, so Zwan is probably the closest.
