Got it, good point, William.
Capitalism is based on individualism. But good try. Now, I hope you don't threaten me for talking about politics here.

But conscious capitalism with socialist principles in areas protecting the least fortunate, eg. offering equality, basic rights, access free healthcare etc. are the only way capitalism doesn't enter a destructive spiral, where we just sit and pray it produces an avenue out of the cul-de-sac it led us into. I probably find the far left chatting about socialism and calling each other comrade as ridiculous as you do, but they're reacting to a capitalist system with ever -worsening, unbalanced wealth distribution and discriminatory biases that is lowering the quality of life for huge swathes of the population and literally destroying the planet. And then we get people who have succeeded at the system, like Billy Corgan, by luck as much as any talent or perceived inherent value, and he will gladly watch the population starve and the whole system destroy itself and the planet rather than give up a single dollar.

You're seriously recommending fucking Ayn Rand?

There's no such a thing as "capitalism with socialisy principles". Socialist principles are social ownership of the means of production and workers' self-management of enterprises. That's exactly the opposite what capitalism is. Capitalism won't promote poverty or unbalance wealth distribution – that happens when the government introduces a centrally planned economy system (socialism). History shows the world is much richer and that extreme poverty rates drastically fell under capitalism:

Do you want to know how well socialism and collective systems perform? Grow up in a Latin America country.

And, yes, I'm recommending you to read Ayn Rand. She's amazing.

What the fuck is Uber doing? Zero hours contacts? Big tech not paying taxes whilst raking in billions for one individual owner? Exponential growth until all resources are exhausted and the environment decimated? Impoverished underclass unable to afford treatment for their mental health issues living on street corners? These things are not socially desirable.

You’re wrong as fuck. Greed is not good.

Are you saying Uber should offer self-employed drivers contracts? They should also call them taxi drivers, and charge the same amount as the traditional taxi driver would, cause that's how you create more jobs, and users will also love paying more. It's a win-win situation. Right.

WPC is really putting out signed copies with just his autograph. It must be a big fat check for the other two to stick around despite the ongoing charade.

Jimmy is on maybe two tracks we know of. James seemingly nowhere to be found. Not sure why this wasn’t just released as a BC solo album.

The tactics of Uber have been to undercut competitors and disrupt a market by circumventing worker’s rights and devaluing it. It’s the only way it could compete. It’s exploitation.

Are you suggesting that capitalist societies without centrally socialized aspects are what caused this? Considering even the USA has socialized elements, and that there's IDK like 10000000 other confounding variables, it seems kind of insane. So I am going to assume I misunderstood you.

How about giving them some advantages in a contract and also raising rates a little to account for this?

You know like, not assuming one has to go from one extreme to the other?

Ayn Rand.

Atlas Shrugged was one of the worst abominations I've ever tried drudging through. Horrible writing. Terrible simplistic ideas. I couldn't even get through the cliff notes when I finally gave up around page ~400 or so.
That 60 page John Galt speech> HAVE FUN!!

Self-employment has being around for a while, and it helps people with different backgrounds to find a job they probably wouldn't – for example, in the U.S. 56% of the taxi drivers are white, while 55% of the Uber drivers are non-White. Uber operates under that agreement, while there are other companies that prefer offering a different kind of employment. That's how they can offer the service they offer for what they charge, which helps low-income people to have access to that service – 75% of the Uber users are in the low income bracket (25% bottom 50% mid), while 42% of taxi users are in high income bracket.
