Dear Microsoft: Fuck You
If i pay AU$650 for a console, i want it to last at least a year before it catches fire and ceases to work. And that 6-month warranty you gave me? pretty clever considering it took 6 months and 2 weeks to happen.
FUCK. YOU. |

Dear Fruit of the Loom,
I’m writing to express my appreciation for the quality and warmth I’ve enjoyed from a single blue pair of thermal underwear bottoms that I’ve worn for (almost) every day of the past five and a half months.
As a *********** in the *********** region of ********, I have experienced many a chilly night this winter. Residences here are constructed primarily of cinder blocks with no insulation or heating systems and, despite the cold, often feature gaping holes in ceilings left open to the elements. I slept wearing layers of clothing and often awoke to temperatures in the low thirties in my bedroom. On laundry days when I must go without, it becomes apparent how much I value my one pair of long johns-- that the luxury of a little extra warmth is so important when the majority of one’s creature comforts have been left behind across an ocean. Though perhaps not so fresh, I’m amazed that after such extended use they haven’t become ragged or disintegrated. In fact, they are still going strong. Luckily, warmer days are more prevalent as spring eases its way into the mountain air, but you can bet I’ll be employing a pair next winter. With great appreciation, *************** PS- I know that with such letters, an accompanying picture is often enjoyed. In this case, I think I’ll spare you. |

https://bookshop.org/pages/about & https://www.thriftbooks.com/ are good for finding the same wide range of books at good prices except these places support literacy and independent bookstores and authors. i used to get most academic and reading books from amazon or thriftbooks.

"If you want to find a specific local bookstore to support, find them on our map and they’ll receive the full profit off your order. Otherwise, your order will contribute to an earnings pool that will be evenly distributed among independent bookstores (even those that don’t use Bookshop)."

Yeah, but do you have a similar website for sex toys? Because Amazon sells sex toys.
Step up, independent, community-minded, fair-wage, non-profit bookstores. |

St. Baldrick's Day?
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/p...1217537.column
_____________________________________ Just no excuse to have hair at this time of year by Eric Zorn Published February 22, 2004 *********************** I'm afraid it won't grow back. They hear this excuse a lot at the National Childhood Cancer Foundation, home of St. Baldrick's Day, an international fundraiser that every year asks people to shave their heads for charity. But, of course, the hair does grow back. In four years of extreme barbering, there's not one documented instance of a volunteer's hair not growing back. I have an important social function coming up. The cue-ball look lasts about a week. Three weeks after the shave, you'll look military. Two months later, you'll have short hair. My head has some really ugly bumps, like a bad potato from the bargain bin. It's nothing any decent person would want to see. This was the excuse that WTTW host Phil Ponce gave me last year for not participating--a variation on the common "My scalp is lumpy" excuse that organizers say many prospects give when asked to give their locks for the cause. But, truth is, until you shave, you never know what you'll find up there. It will scare the baby. On the subject of children, it's important to remember that the purpose of St. Baldrick's Day is not to create squadrons of Billy Corgan look-alikes, but to raise money ($2 million last year) to fund research into childhood cancers. It works like most other 'thons--participants solicit pledges from their friends and colleagues--but there's a profound symbolism behind the challenge: The bald look is to show solidarity with the 12,500 kids stricken with cancer each year, many of whom have their hair fall out during chemotherapy. My shaving will offend people with cancer. Cancer victims routinely show up at St. Baldrick's Day shaving events to lend support and are more than usually aware of the heartbreak of the families of the more than 2,300 children who die of various childhood cancers every year. My wife won't let me. Heather Kash, the promoter of the March 12 St. Baldrick's Day events in the Chicago area, says that whenever she has asked to speak to the allegedly objecting wife, the wife has been OK with the idea. It's disgraceful, really, to blame someone else for one's own failure of nerve. My kids won't let me. Well, OK, this is not only an excuse that Heather Kash is hearing this year, it's also an excuse she's using: "My daughter is 14 and already horrified that I'm cutting my hair short," she said. I'm a woman. So far only about 5 of the 135 people signed up for a full shave at eight Chicago-area locations next month are women. Several other women, such as Kash, will undergo dramatic shortenings in a companion fundraiser, "Locks for Love." Historically, fewer than 1 in 10 of those shaved on St. Baldrick's Day are women, for understandable reasons. Whereas the smooth scalp look is common, even trendy among men and recalls numerous cultural icons, total baldness in women is more closely associated with avant-garde lifestyles, science fiction or disease. My head will get cold, my sunglasses won't stay on my head! My head will create a blinding glare! I'll never be able to use the excuse "It's a bad hair day!" Get over yourself. Vanity meets fear at the razor's edge and the demurrals fly fast, thick and ridiculous. It's an adventure, shaving your head; a confrontation with the role of hair in identity; a possible realization that all these years you've been fussing with your coif, no one has really noticed or cared. Every man should shave his head at least once in his life. St. Baldrick's Day is an ideal opportunity to do it, because if the result is blinding, shocking or tuberous, you can always fix your detractors with a cold stare and say "I did it to fight childhood cancer. You have a problem with that?" But I did it last year. Hey, that's my excuse! _____________________________________ Ummm... Maybe its unnecessary to make a thread here... Sorry. __________________ Sometimes, people really won't realize how great it is, until that is gone. |

"He'll get bored of this," you think to your self. "There's no way this thread will make it to page 2."
