Let the Smashing Pumpkins play "Creep", Hall of Famers, at the induction ceremony for Radiohead. To make Thom Yorke remorseful, to miss his own introduction...

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/m...uction-776808/

Thom Yorke Says He Won’t Attend Radiohead’s Rock Hall Induction

After weeks of speculation about whether Radiohead will show up for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, Thom Yorke has confirmed that he won’t be in attendance for the March ceremony at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

Speaking to Variety about the Rock Hall nod, Yorke admitted that the concept of the institution is foreign to the band, and while he is honored by the induction, he can’t partake in the ceremony due to a scheduling conflict.

When asked if he’d attend the induction ceremony, Yorke said, “I know I can’t, because of these piano pieces that I’ve written”; the singer crafted piano works for Katia and Marielle Labèque that will premiere at Philharmonie de Paris on April 7th, days after the Rock Hall induction.

“The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame… we’ve always been very blasé about that stuff. So we don’t want to offend anyone. We just think that we just don’t quite understand it,” Yorke added.

“We’ve had it explained to us, so it’s cool. But we don’t really understand it as English people. I think our problem is essentially that every awards ceremony in the UK stinks. We grew up with the Brits, which is like this sort of drunken car crash that you don’t want to get involved with. So, yeah, we don’t really know what to make of it.”

You know what I love about Thom Yorke?

He doesn’t do interviews with Alex Jones.

Apparently Janet Jackson was a low pick in the "fan vote", Todd Rundgren had more votes, but Janet Jackson ultimately got in an Todd didn't, but truth be told, going by fan vote wouldn't make this whole popularity contest any less of a disgrace.

Just watched the induction ceremony a few days ago. Awesome presentation, make sure to check it out. Stevie Nicks and Def Leperd crushed it. A couple of the Radiohead guys did end up coming to accept the award and they were super touched, it was a cool moment. The Cure were okay, but Robert Smith is definitely giving off Billy Corgan vibes these days. Super bloated and covered with dumb makeup singing very juvenile songs. Sorta cringey when the guys like 60 years old.

Wtf, those songs are cure classics. All the news I read said they rocked the ceremony and I agree (saw it on HBO). The Roxy set was hot too. Also Smith is the anti-Corgan. He was humble and thanked his band members, nearly all of whom came to the ceremony b/c Smith doesn’t burn every bridge. Juvenile songs? OMG fuzzy wtf

I dunno, something about seeing an overweight 60 year old with caked on makeup singing Boys don't cry is a little lame

In hindsight, I guess it wasn't that bad, dude just kinda looks terrible.

My favorite performance of the ceremony was Def Leperd doing Photograph. This is just fucking fire. Amazing how they can still crush it like that.

Just deadly. Their induction was a great moment too. When Rick Allen had the standing ovation, hard not to get misty eyed.

I stress this again, if you guys haven't watched the ceremony yet, DO IT!

Man, musicians sure don't write songs like they used to, eh guys?

Cool to see Mick Fleetwood in the audience rocking out and supporting Stevie.

I am always shocked by how superficial you are Fuzzy. You know, there was something lame about creating a thread about Beezus and Butthead in 2019, but I guess you don't consider that.

Dude, once JJ locked that thread, I was disappointed cause it felt like 5-10 minutes down the drain for nothing, so I copy and pasted the musings and posted them on the Beavis and Butthead reddit page, and it was a massive hit.

It's also not about being superficial. Some forms of music age better than others and some forms of music can be performed tastefully once the artist reaches their senior years and some not so much.

And as much as we wanna pretend that looks don't matter in rock and roll, well, the truth is, they sorta do.

lol. in the late 70s, guys like you woulda been the first to belittle something like Fleetwood Mac and long for the old sounds of Buddy Holly or something

that being said, i don't entirely disagree that "Fat Bob" (the fans' pet name, not mine!) may be due a uh, image change by this point. Simon Gallup is eternally cool tho

Putting him down because he has health issues is not cool. We'll see what you guys look like after several decades of drinking.

I think SP's output from 2010 - 2019 should be enough to prevent and bar the Pumpkins from ever being inducted into the hall of fame. It does tarnish the SP legacy.

Nah man, Fleetwood Mac hits all the sweet spots for me. Great musicianship, melodic guitar, great vocal harmonies, entertaining live band, gorgeous lead singer... What's not to like?

I guess Robert Smith is sorta in a tricky position though, he's so known for his crazy look that if he did try and pivot, fans would probably bitch. He does look utterly ridiculous though.
