I would agree that the solo makes the song but God, WHAT a solo. Maybe people would have criticized it for that, but anyone who appreciates great guitar work would have dug it. But yeah, it works on Pisces and certainly elevates that collection.

as for Aeroplane - I really like how it's presented, but have attempted at sequencing it in some sort of "album listing" but was never quite happy with it. I'm sure someone's managed a listenable album-run of these songs but frankly, one MCIS-era double album is enough; i'm glad this was represented by EPs

Some of the actual singles had less songs than the TAFH discs though, right? It's probably accurate to call them EPs

i've seen so many of those EPs individually for (re-)sale at various record/entertainment shops and figured they must have been available that way at some point, cos it'd be kind of ridiculous to part with those EPs individually when you bought it as a set

i considered that as well but some of these places also had the actual box

BWBW was originally only available 1 bside single. the extra tracks (all covers) were exclusive to the box

1979 was available in 3 different versions. 1 b-side (Netherlanda), 3-bsides (UK) & 5-bsides (netherlands & Germany)

Tonight tonight. There was 2 versions of the UK single, each had 3 different bsides
The Japanese and German versions had all 6 b-sides on 1 disk.

zero - only sold as the full EP with all 6 b-sides

33 - same as TT, where the UK had 2 different singles. one with 3-bsides, one with 2 b-sides.
but a 5-bside Japanese and Netherland version was available outside of the boxset.

the UK singles were in those slim cases...

It was great. I was 12 years old and had all the albums already. A kid from the neighborhood had a copy of the Zero single and I couldn’t believe that there were 5 extra songs on it, that they were all kickass, and that the single had its own sound and aesthetic almost like a mini-album. Blew my mind.

Yeah, the Zero single is so good it feels like a mini album. Marquis in Spades is probably my favorite (Angel/Barbed wire/FUCK YOU/Desire!), and Mouths of Babes and God are also kickass. Tribute to Johnny is a fantastic jam, and Pennies is such a sweet little track. And of course, Zero itself is a classic. Pistachio is also fun, though I admit I've only listened to the whole thing once or twice.
