Truth be told the only Franz I've heard was the first album but there was definitely some stuff going on there that wasn't just straight Go4 - whether they relapsed from that after word or not is another story

You know the only WL album that doesn’t straight borrow / copy / rip off tears for fears is To lose my life the first one. They have a shred of originality on that one. But everything after that I might as well be listening to The Hurting or Songs from the big chair.

My favorite TFF albums mighta been when Roland went solo, tbh

Aside from Big Chair, of course, which is just an undeniable behemoth

I never got that far with them. I haven’t even heard the third one they put out in late 80s. How is that later stuff by them?

You know I’m pretty sure that’s why WL and editors got signed so fast and had so much traction early on. Cus the record labels knew they could cash in on early eighties nostalgia with them.

I'm a huge fan of everything up to Everybody Loves a Happy Ending, and even that is like half great

Roland's solo album is fuckin' stellar - got passed up pretty hard because it literally dropped on 9/11 but man I love that record

I’m listening to DM - black celebration right now. Forgot how great it is. Been months. It does remind me a lot of TFF the Hurting at times.

Funnily enough DM got the producer of Big Chair to do the follow-up

and it shows

There nothing on editors albums you couldn’t find on echo and bunnymen albums and the same with Franz and Gang of Four. Or even white lies and tears for fears.
I feel like if I played you some GoF that isn't Damaged Goods you wouldn't recognize it anyway
