you can't close borders and be libertarian. it's an absolutely direct contradiction to the core ideology. you can't restrict trade and the movement of people and be libertarian. that's like being a socialist who slashes regulations and taxes to help the rich

well yeah you ask them about open borders and amnesty they freak the fuck out despite it being the actual position of the US Libertarian Party

I think populist is pretty neutral

there's left populism and right populism and they mean different things

agreed, populist can mean many things, but it's about the general will of the people. Fascism is also about the general will. Sometimes I wonder if Hitler and Mussolini were influenced by Rousseau but couldn't say so because he was French

I imagine Sanders doing tariffs as well provided he could combine it with taxes on corporations that outsource

democrats now being the champion party of free trade is a bit problematic for me, both Ocasio-Cortez and my local Beto have nothing in their platform about outsourcing or trade deals that hurt workers

mainly an issue that's important to the Midwest, but democrats can't afford to lose the Midwest in 2020

so we'll see, I just think because less than half of Texans have a favorable view of Cruz, this is a pretty good chance
