Halley's Comet is a short-period comet which takes ~75 years to complete an orbit (compare to some long-period comets known to take hundreds of thousands of years). It is the only known comet which is both visible to the naked eye, and may appear twice in a human's lifetime.

we are much more likely to be done in by an asteroid afaik

although we aren't sure how often comet strikes happen because comets don't leave much trace once they crash into a large body with an atmosphere. unlike asteroids, which are solid enough for a large one to make its way to the surface or Earth and leave an impact crater, a comet would melt/break up on its way down essentially pummeling the Earth with a superheated shockwave of thousands of degrees, but leaving very little solid evidence
