the tea is just a gimmick, it's online sales of sad machines buying autographed reissues for 300 bucks.

When I was in town for the April '16 show where James joined for SD songs at the last minute (after the show) a friend talked me into going with them to the Louisville and Nashville shows on the list. The next morning before leaving Chicago they wanted to drive 30 minutes north to Zuzu’s. I had never been there and was interested in checking it out. Ordered a tea to go and browsed around. Took some pictures of some of the items on display for sale but unfortunately those are lost in an old/damaged phone. The one thing I wish I could remember was the price tag for The Aeroplane Flies High vinyl set. I had never seen one in person before and the number was yuge. Then we got pizza to go across the street and drove to Louisville.

I've been in there a few times for tea. I work right outside of Highland Park. I think it's overpriced for what you're getting. The fact that it's B's place is why it is so pricey. Over-selling an idea because of who he is. That being said, it is nice and cozy with a lot of little knick-knacks for sale. Cool ambiance.

If you look closely, the opening and closing of this tea house is a key part of the machina mystery

Thank god it's staying open online - if I couldn't source the blue dragon Oolong w/ an expensive autographed boxset, I'd be really put out

I so WISH I could have good things to say! I happened to be in Chicago for business and of course I just HAD to stop by Billy Corgan, my most adored music idol's of all time, coffee and tea shop. The fact my SO LOVES all things tea and has a massive collection made me even more motivated to be sure to pay ZuZu's a visit.

When we first went in there was no greeting by any of the staff (even though there were approximately 4 staff members working at the time) and the only guy behind the counter just completely blatantly ignored us, even though I noticed he absolutely had seen us come in (since he looked up initially) and I stood there waiting to ask him a question about the teas, but I was still ultimately completely ignored.

There was clutter all over a couple of the tables when we went in, and it was clearly the staff's stuff because they were periodically working on them. I believe the business manager was working on her laptop and told me that they were very low on inventory for teas to purchase. She did try and help me find what I was looking for, but when she later saw I was waiting for FOREVER to check out she didn't so much as move from where she was chatting with another associate to check me out either.

When I had finally picked out some bagged tea to buy, the woman behind the counter proceeded to get into a conversation with another guest about her hairstylist mother that went on for quite some time while I patiently waited.... and waited..... AND WAITED to be rung up. I felt like an idiot just standing there when ALL the other associates (manager included) just stood there looking at me and I guess they felt like it was no problem that the girl behind the counter was just going on and on because it apparently wasn't "their job" to step in and ring up a customer.

I finally asked the other man behind the counter, "can I please buy this?" His response was a nonchalant "Oh, umm, yeah, I'm new and don't know anything yet! Sorry! Uuh, alrighty then! Aaaaand she just continued to talk to the other lady!

Btw (directed to the male associate mainly) Can you at least say HELLO to customers who walk in the door to your establishment? Seriously, if you have NO people skills FORGET IT KID! Either get some or give it up for some isolated computer job where you don't have to deal with the public.

In general, I felt extremely uncomfortable in that it was almost a pretentious unspoken air of "you're not the eclectic pretentious type we want in here!" My business partner also said he felt very uncomfortable and sadly couldn't wait to leave. I have no idea how to explain it, but it was weird, rude and just pretentious all the way around!

The shop itself is extremely small, dark and cluttered (I did LOVE the wallpaper though). There was (as the manager put it) a very small selection of teas to purchase. I STILL purchased the bag of tea for my SO, but sadly I do not think I'll ever come back due to the poor attitudes that seem prevalent here. Maybe it was the day?! I know we all have not so good ones here and there .

Anyway, to sum it up it's really REALLY unfortunate, because I REALLY love Billy Corgan as a musician and love eclectic tea shops. As a business owner myself, I just can't imagine him being "ok" with HIS business being run like this..."

Lol. Well he's just as pretentious and self absorbed as those associates so I'm sure he's fine with them being rude.

Highlight 2014:
The monumental Siddhartha Session.

Don't be fooled by the big analog reel machine. The recordings were made on the old digital DAT-Recorder from Panasonic. To then be pressed on a whole bunch of analog vinyls...

The space was more suited to a post office or something rather than a tea shop. It's hard to make an 'art space' out of a rectangular mail-slot of a shop.
